Minority religions can´t decide if they want government money or not
In anticipation of the revision of the Religious Freedom Act, Spain’s minority religious confessions – including Evangelicals – have expressed their opposition to the State’s continuing “
aid
” that it gives the Catholic Church through personal income tax. With the single exception of the Orthodox Church, their representatives are calling for the privileges granted to the Vatican in the 1979 Concordat to be reconsidered.
Government postpones Religious Freedom Law till Pope´s gone home
The approval of the Law on Religious Freedom has been postponed till next year. It seems that the Government is trying to avoid tensions with the Vatican and will hold the Bill over until after the Pope’s visit to Spain in November....
